Welcome AOSA Conference First Timers!  You are invited to the First Timers Orientation at the Charlotte Conference on Wednesday evening, November 12, 2008,10:00-10:45 p.m. in the Convention Center.  Look for signs at the Conference Registration Desk and at the First Timers Booth in the Exhibit Hall.

Attending your first AOSA National Conference can be exciting, exhausting and overwhelming.  It will undoubtedly be an experience you will never forget and hopefully one that you will want to repeat yearly.  Here are some tips on how to get the most out of your conference experience.

What does the AOSA National Conference offer that my local chapter does not?  Watch the AOSA National Conference Promotional Video: (video will start to play after a few seconds)

First Timer Orientation

When you arrive on Wednesday evening, check into your hotel first.  Then, walk over to the Convention Center where you will find the Registration Table in the Exhibit Hall.  Once you receive your conference notebook, you will have an extensive guide to the conference and a whole section of notes from all of the presenters – even those whose sessions you will not attend!

Near the Registration Table, there will be a table set up on Wednesday evening only, during the Exhibitor’s Reception, especially for first timers.  Be sure to stop by and receive your gift from AOSA!

Take advantage of our Wednesday night get together at 10:00 p.m.  Be sure to check at the First Timer’s Table for the location of this meeting.  Meet other “newbies” and mingle with veteran teachers ready to answer your burning questions.

Ways to Save
• Plan ahead:  Outside funding sources take time and research.
• Scholarships:  Many local chapters provide scholarship money to assist with conference attendance.
• Register early:  Take advantage of the early registration rate.
Contact your PTO/PTA:  They may offer funding for conferences.
Teacher Resource Centers occasionally have grant money.
• Share a room with a friend:  Check back to this page in Spring 2008 to find a roommate for Charlotte.
• Book flights early:  Keep checking on line for the best rate.  There are several sites on the Internet to
help you find the best deal.
